Playground of the Week – Bishopdale Play Area

This is another playground known by a key feature of its play equipment, being an awesome slide over a concrete elephant. Additional equipment is largely of the traditional mode – climbing frames, swings, seesaw, rocking horse and a slide, it also features a flying fox.
Accessible over two roads, allowing for plenty of parking, there are also public toilets within the playground, and a skate park at the back for more adventurous kids.
Extra bonus points for the fact the playground is FULL of large trees, creating generous shade on hot Canterbury days, and that the playground is also well fenced (important when its on a main road). It’s only downfall is it has very few seating areas, and we only spotted one picnic table, well away from the main play equipment.
It’s been several years since we were last here (look how little smoosh our Mr6 used to be), I think we’ll have to go back next time we’re in Christchurch.
